The motion to amend the dues calculation was passed at our general membership meeting on April 20, 2022. The motion is below along with details of a membership wide vote on the motion.
Dues assessment motion passed April 20, 2022:
Motion to change the dues assessment method from the old CAW method of 2 hrs 20 minutes of hourly wage per month for full time, and 1 hr 10 minutes of hourly wage per month for part time, to 1.35% of regular wages.
Note that under the old method part time was defined as less than 40 hours per month. Regular wages, including tips that appear on the member's paystub are to be assessed for dues. In the case of technicians paid flat rate Unifor National has instructed that wages for dues assessment are the scheduled hours, unless the member earns less that scheduled hours, in which case the lesser amount will be assessed.
The vote on this motion will take place online and in person. Advance poll starting 0600 on May 9th, and continue to May 10th at 1900 hrs.
In person voting will take place at the Chateau Laurier from 0700 until 1900 hrs on May 10th.
