    Chateau Laurier severance denials

    Be advised that the CLH has taken a position to deny employees severance if they have worked since the pandemic layoff regardless of the number of weeks they have been laid off in the past 52 weeks.  Your Union has filed a grievance and are not in agreement with the employer.  If you have been considering taking your severance you may wish to do it now.  While your Union is confident that we are on solid grounds defending our members severance rights  the outcome of our grievance is not guaranteed to be successful.  We will continue to keep our members at the CLH updated on this very urgent matter.

    Retraining opportunity for laid of Chateau Laurier Hotel members

    From Unifor, an exciting opportunity for our members at the Chateau Laurier Hotel who are on layoff:
    To all Ontario Local Presidents with Hospitality/Gaming/Food Service Workplaces:
    Unifor has won a major grant to assist laid off hospitality, gaming and food service workers in Ontario with free training and career pathways to related sectors that are hiring, ideally to other Unifor-represented employers. This grant funds a partnership with the Hospitality Workers Training Centre to deliver free training and other supports for our laid off Unifor members (in a virtual format right now).
    We would like to invite you and your hospitality/gaming/food service workers to an info session about what’s available. There are 2 sessions scheduled:
    • August 24 at 10am
    • August 26 at 5pm
